Our mission is to provide struggling readers of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay, with individualized evidence based structured literacy instruction in schools, prisons and communities, delivered by highly trained instructors. We are dedicated to promptly identifying children at risk of reading failure, providing appropriate instruction and sharing the tools to implement best practices.

Job Description 

Reading Allowed has partnered with several schools and community organizations in the Philadelphia area to provide structured literacy instruction to struggling readers in grades K-8. Based on student needs, Reading Allowed instructors provide small group or 1:1 structured literacy lessons.  We are currently hiring part-time and full-time instructors with in-person and virtual options both during and after school hours.

Pay: Up to $50.00/hour

Position Responsibilities

  • Provide individual or small groups of 2-4 students structured literacy instr
  • Develop skill-appropriate lesson plans
  • Maintain all required Reading Allowed records
  • Ensure supervision of students to assure their safety
  • Meet with Reading Allowed personnel, classroom teachers, principals, and parents as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned

Required Experience and Skills

  • A deep understanding of the Science of Reading
  • Must have a Wilson® Reading System Level I or Level II Certificate and/or Wilson® Fundations training and experience
  • Must have and utilize Wilson® Reading System 4th Edition 
  • All state mandated clearances are required (Child Abuse, Criminal background checks, Act 126 Certificate, FBI fingerprints, etc.)
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, MS Office, Zoom, etc.
