Job Description 

Reading Allowed is partnering with several schools and community organizations in the Philadelphia area for the 2023-2024 school year to provide structured literacy instruction to struggling readers in grades K-12 as well as adults. Based on student needs, Reading Allowed instructors provide small group or 1:1 structured literacy lessons (Wilson and Fundations). We are currently hiring part-time and full-time instructors with in-person and virtual options both during and after school hours.

Pay: Up to $55.00/hour depending on certifications and position

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with individual or small groups of 2-4 students
  • Develop skill-appropriate lesson plansCreate and update all Reading Allowed records
  • Ensure supervision of students to assure their safety
  • Meet with Reading Allowed personnel, classroom teachers, principals, and parents for planning and data analysis
  • Maintain inventory of teaching materials and supplies
    Other duties may be assigned

Required Experience and Skills

  • A deep understanding of the Science of Reading
  • Wilson® Reading System Level I or Level II Certificate and/or Wilson®
  • Fundations training and experience
  • Must have all state mandated clearances (Child Abuse, Criminal background checks, Act 126 Certificate, FBI fingerprints, etc.)
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Zoom, etc.
